One of the more popular security camera designs that make for good apartment installation or application is the dome camera design. A dome camera is a surveillance camera that is encased in a dome-like housing. The dome is usually made of glass, plastic or any material that can protect the camera unit as well as protect it against tampering and, if installed outdoors, the harsh elements.

The advantages of a dome camera compared to other popular designs like the bullet camera variety is that it is usually more compact which makes it quite suitable for indoor home use.
Smaller apartment spaces will benefit from dome cameras because of their relatively smaller size. All you need to do is find a model that sports a camera that has a wide coverage angle and you can install it inside your small apartment kitchen and train it towards the back door entrance. Installing them should also be simpler compared to the other types because some of them can simply be attached to the ceiling using adhesive tapes. This is true for wireless models that require no tedious installation set-ups (as it does away with wires and cords and may run only on batteries). For wired dome cameras, however, it will require a bit more effort to lay out the wiring and corresponding cords in such a way that it will not be too obvious— all for practical and aesthetic considerations. After all, you do not want a burglar to easily find the wires and easily disable the cameras with a simple snip of the wiring connections.
A camera is an integral part of any security system and should not be overlooked for residential or apartment defense. Installing a relatively simple device such as a dome camera will go a long way in keeping your apartment protected.
